Description
Original painting: ‘Gabstar stories: tuatua (pipi)’
Watercolour, gouache and pencil on Arches paper
NB: This image is unframed
Just below the surface of the sand on a NZ beach, a tuatua sits and waits for the tide to turn. She sings to herself ancient and mysterious songs of the sea.
A curious crab hovers nearby but the tuatua pays no mind. She is busy growing fat on the sea’s riches of plankton gathered through her siphon, the frilly edges blooming like an anemone in the sand.
Picture size approximately: 11.5cm x 16.5cm
